Copenhagen is cold cold cold, and these days I miss Berlin more than ever. Even cold was nicer in Kreuzberg. And I'm not romanticising, I remember thinking the same when I was there. Oh well, I could very much use a little spring infusion, so when I looked through my photos from May and June in Berlin, I could almost smell summer... (Read the other best ofs here, here, here, here and here)
May 1st was celebrated in Görli Park along with a million other Berliners. We soaked up the sun and some got a little high and had laughing fits...
On a very normal Friday, AnCa and I dressed up and drank white wine (the one and only from Späti-mama), danced around to Spice Girls and ended up in town. I think...
Many mornings...
On a Moabit-assignment for work I came by this very cool laundry.
Distortion came to Berlin, so AnCa and I dolled up and went to Stattbad Wedding, where we partied with the Danes and kissed boys in the corners...
Chris came to visit for a week doing some architecture, and we went and saw Animal Collective with AnCa and the rest of the crew. Despite being one of my favourite bands, the concert was quite disappointing...
The next day we saw Gang Gang Dance at HAU which is the best concert I've seen in 2011. Amazing.
May also meant playing Domino at the canal in the afternoon sun...
Kat also visited and joined us for a night out in a bar so fresh that it smelled overwhelmingly of paint.
Spreepark, the abandoned themepark in the south, opened up for a weekend. Sigrid and I checked it out but liked it more when it was trespassing to get in...
The end of May was very warm, and Sigrid and I took a little park-break as we roamed the streets for fancy looking Berliners...
I went to Mica Moca Project Berlin in an old factory to write about the many artistic happenings there - they're not there anymore, but the factory was wonderful.
Sigrid and I went to a Chinese garden for work and indulged in luxurious teas while goofing around in the park.
Lutzie was our office dog in June and July. She could hardly breathe and was constantly gasping for air in the spring heat. But she got a lot of attention from the struggling interns at the magazine.
AnCa and I played scrabble in Roderich before attending a party at Ines' house in Neukölln.
June was also the month where I discovered 'best meal in bread' at Görli. Amazing shawarma (with haloumi, of course)
Bettina visited me when the magazine had its last big party at Monster Ronson's Karaoke.
Oh, the heat. My summer vacation began at the canal reading Simone de Beauvoir.
