Bye bye 2011
2011, you were a very strange year. I stood in the cold snow in Prenzlauer Berg with a glass of wine in my hand surrounded by good friends when you began. The first days were cold and grey, but nonetheless I was happy. We listened to music on the tram on the way to work, said goodbye to Prenzlauer Berg and hello to Kreuzberg. We went to Israel to feel calm under starry nights and endless deserts. We started drinking white wine and had some of the best parties together. We loved every minute and knew it. The days grew longer and full of light, laughter and people, and everything was great. And then the second half began. The half that grew darker and darker. The journey back to Copenhagen, to not quite fitting in, to not being really happy. And now, as you leave me in my darkest hour, I hope you pass some of your light on to make 2012 a good year - in both halves.

Best of Copenhagen #2
As mentioned, there were good times in Copenhagen as well...
Denmark got a left wing government - and its first female prime minister!
I hung out with Tine a lot.
Lived in the north for a month before moving into my apartment with Anna:
Started exploring Nørrebro's many offers...
Finally had all my stuff in one place (for the first time in 5 years!)
Enjoyed the light in the apartment......
Had a perfect housewarming!
...and got Copenhagen's coolest toilet.
Had a visit from the youngest brother just as all the leaves fell.
Had a wild night in Aalborg visiting Kristiane...
Fell in love...
Hung out with the ladies...
Went back to Berlin for a few days...
Partied a little more...

Since last time I have...
...played Scrabble with the brothers...
...attended my father's annual Christmas lunch (my brother drank over 20 snaps)...
...played with beards...
...taken the train to Jutland to visit my mom...
...and of course played with Rosa.

Jealousy
My grandfather is very good at building things. When my brother was 3, he got a farm painted in the most beautiful old fashioned pattern, that my grandfather made. This Christmas, my mother sent me some photos of the dollhouse my grandfather made for my 3-year-old cousin. It's taken him 1,5 years to make it, and it's a true replica of a house in Aalborg he once restored. I'm really really impressed (and quite jealous)...

We go for a walk in the park
A Christmas tradition that was never actually planned, but just sort of happened, and now is one of my favourite, is the annual post-Christmas walk in the garden of the castle in Fredensborg with Tine and Chris. It started back in high school when we needed a break from stupid parents and annoying brothers (and another excuse to go gossip about the boys we liked). It hasn't really changed since. Yesterday, the sun shone down on us as we walked around the muddy pathts randomly meeting old friends in the park and laughing and talking about boys. And ended up having a coffee in a restaurant just opened up by someone from our pre-school (!)
As usual, nothing happened in downtown Fredensborg...

Duck-bets and a candlelit tree
And so it was Christmas once again...
The waiting time was killed with NP's homemade game, Kuno...
I wore a little hat for dinner.
NP and JC made a bet that forced NP to eat an entire duck (!) before the last present was opened.
Of course they had to keep track on the bet.
The beautiful candlelit tree ready to be danced around.
NP still fighting with his duck-challenge...
But of course he ended up winning. And thus eating an entire duck...!
