Revisiting #4

You guys are still clicking away in the archive, and although it's been a while since the last 'Revisiting'-post, I'm still delighted to rediscover old posts I had long forgotten. This time around, I've revisited my old apartment in Prenzlauer Berg - in these times of crazy apartment hunt, I sure can miss the beautiful space I had there three years ago...
I've also revisited the epic Eastern European trip AnCa and I had last summer. What a blast!
And then there is a quite recent one of Montreal. I guess I was in a strange state of mind when I lived there, because now that it's distanced itself a little, I sometimes get a strong longing for that place.

Whereabouts

I snap several photos a day, mostly on my iPhone. Lots of those photos end up on my Instagram account, but most of them never get to see the day. Here are some of the glimpses that make up my days; places I go and things I see.
Two Sundays ago I went apartment looking and saw this little scenario in Prenzlauer Berg.
That Sunday I went to the movies with Nina in Hackesche Höfe.
I snapped a photo of Melissa the next day, right before she left for Denmark.
The view from my kitchen window. I like the shades of yellow mixes with the red chimneys.
I'm looking out the window at Salon Schmück.
On Wednesday, I had coffee with Adam in Okerstraße.
I met Nina and her mother for coffee in Reuterkiez after yet another apartment viewing.
One of the spätis on Wrangelstraße. I like the piles of beer crates.
On Friday I went to get my Schufa done, and this fine sign greeted me when I came up from the u-bahn at Wilmersdorfer Straße.
On Monday I crossed the park to get my coffee fix at Five Elephant (oh, so good!) and I came by this purple-roofed van. God I love them, and they're everywhere here!

A Sunday at Arkonaplatz

My weekend has been spent quietly panicking at home about job, house and school, so when Iben and Ulrik came to town and asked me to meet them at the Arkonaplatz flohmarkt yesterday, I jumped on the bike as quickly as possible. We also met up with Anne and Mikkel who recently moved to Berlin, and I enjoyed the afternoon at the market followed by an hour on the grass beneath the sun, talking and laughing. More of that, please.
On Friday, someone had left two books in Danish on my doorstep. I don't presume they were for me exactly, but it was a nice little surprise, and I happily picked them up. Now I have two more books to enjoy as the fall approaches.
Friday was also the day where I celebrated my one month re-anniversary with Berlin by going all the way to the West to fill out more paperwork in the hopes of one day ending up with an apartment in this place...
Friday night I was supposed to meet some friends at Klunkerkranich, but the line was so long that I gave up and went home. At least I got to see the beautiful sundown over the rooftops from the back of the line...
On the way to the flohmarkt on Sunday we came by this little thing at the RAW entrance on Warschauer Straße. The little booth was very un-Danish with German schlager-music blasting out, but I guess soft-ice is a Danish thing now?
 The crew in Arkonaplatz.
On my way home I walked over the Warschauer Brücke where the industrial view is kind of nice.
I picked up this yellow lady from the fleamarket. I guess I hoped it would bring me inspiration for my school assignment, being the old-fashioned journalistic tool and all, but the inspiration is still missing. I like looking at it, though.

A rendez-vous

On Wednesday, I met Karoline of If I Could Choose fame for a coffee. We had never met before but know each other through our respective blogs, and we got along great and talked for hours about Berlin, Denmark, Germany and everything else. We met at Salumeria Lamuri on Köpenicker Straße (number 183, Kreuzberg); a semi-new Italian delicatessen. The place is amazing; ornament heaven with old tiles everywhere, beautiful details and seriously delicious food. I had two coffees (they were so good) and a zucchini salad. Yum!
I nearly died when I saw this floor.

Glimpses #2

I spend my days panicking over the big assignment, the job hunting, the house hunting, the finances (or the lack of those)... At the same time I'm falling more and more in love with the city, running around drinking coffee, meeting so many new people, finding myself again after what seems like a two year hiatus. It's good to be back, and all the grown-up stuff that comes along just has to be dealt with. But Germans, a little less bureaucracy would suit you...
Last Monday I had my morning coffee at Five Elephant (Reichenberger Str. 101, Kreuzberg) with Melissa.
On the street it seemed they were playing Tetris with the bottle cases.
We went inside a courtyard where I liked this little mailbox 'exhibition'.
The next day I went out for drinks with Cordula after we'd gone to an apartment viewing.
Wrangelstraße house.
Melissa and I met again later that week for another coffee at Lerchen & Eulen in Wrangelkiez. The little fellow was sitting right in the middle of the pavement just looking at people.
I like corners like this. Here, flowers at Schlesisches Tor.

Sunday

I spent Sunday in Prenzlauer Berg. First, I circled the Arkonaplatz fleamarket with Anne, Melissa and Cordula. The two latter spent a good portion of time hunting through the jewellery boxes, and I swooned over the booth with old school maps and letters (when I'm rich....!) Later, we had sushi at Zionkirchplatz and strolled down Kastanienallee before I went apartment looking with Nina. Afterwards, we took the M1 to Central Kino at Hackescher Markt to see 'Frances Ha' - which I can happily recommend. What a great weekend!
 Yum yum yum.
The Sunday people were busy at Glücklich am Park.

Friday

Oh my, what an amazing weekend. Despite spending my Saturday in bed with a massive hangover, I haven't had such a good weekend in a long time. Friday involved alcohol, lots of kissing and serious fun times. It started at the roof bar where Melissa and I jumped the line and drank for free because we know the owner (dangerous). Later, we headed to Fuchs & Elster where we made new friends. Some of us went on to an unspecified bar in Sonnenallee before retreating around 8am when the sun was shining again, and the roommates were starting their day. Crazy night, great night.
 Love that space!
Fill played cool behind the bar and mixed us some strong drinks...
