After a few days in New York, we took the train down to Washington. A disgustingly humid city (there was a heatwave) where we spent most of the time in museums where there was A/C. We then flew to San Francisco to stay with an old friend of my father's in their gorgeous house outside the city. We went on the cable car, took the boat out to Alcatraz, walked up and down the hills, saw the Golden Gate, went to the woods and saw the giant trees, walked around in Haight-Ashbury where people had forgotten it was no longer 1967... It was a great week.
